Why is Google Analytics Universal going away?

On July 1, 2023, Google Analytics Universal properties will stop processing data. Google has replaced Google Analytics Universal with Google Analytics 4 (GA4). Unlike previous Google Analytics updates this is a complete overhaul and as such a new installation needs to be created to continue tracking website traffic, events and conversions.

What is GA4?

GA4 is the new version of Google Analytics. At its cores, its a shift from page view focused analytics and the old version of the internet to event-based tracking. Event-based tracking allows for everything you need to be defined as an event, including page view, and with each event have a series to parameters values to go alongn, so every action a use takes can store even more data.

Additionally, with GA4 you’ll have access to cutting-edge features like machine learning-powered insights, cross-device tracking, and enhanced data privacy controls.
